In the quiet, emerald valleys of rural Nepal, where the morning mist clings to the terraced hillsides, dreams often face a steep climb. For many children, the path to school is blocked not by mountains, but by the weight of poverty.

This is where the Asha Project’s Gift of Hope Scholarship program begins its story.
“Asha” means hope in Nepali, and for students like Sunita, it lived up to its name. Before the scholarship, Sunita’s days were spent helping her parents in the fields, her eyes often drifting toward the local schoolhouse. Her family, hardworking but struggling to make ends meet, simply couldn’t afford the basic necessities—uniforms, books, and tuition—that serve as the keys to a classroom.

Turning Dreams into Degrees
Through the generosity of our sponsors, the Gift of Hope stepped in. It wasn’t just a financial transaction; it was a promise. By covering the essential costs of education, the program cleared the path for Sunita to trade her sickle for a pen.
- Empowerment: Students gain the confidence to lead within their communities.
- Sustainability: Education breaks the cycle of poverty for entire families.
- Connection: Sponsors provide more than funds; they provide the knowledge that someone, somewhere, believes in these children’s futures.

A Brighter Future for Nepal
Today, the scholarship continues to transform lives across the region. Every child supported by the Gift of Hope represents a ripple effect of change. Whether they grow up to be teachers, nurses, or community leaders, they carry with them the legacy of a gift given at just the right time.
Because of our sponsors, the story of education in Nepal is no longer about the barriers—it’s about the heights these students will eventually reach.
As Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate said “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world.”
Dear Sponsors,
On behalf of the Asha Project and the countless students whose lives have been transformed by your generosity, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your support of the Gift of Hope Scholarship program.
Your commitment is more than a financial contribution; it is a profound investment in the future of Nepal. In regions where poverty often dictates a child’s path, your sponsorship serves as the key that opens the doors to classrooms and possibilities. Because of you, students like Sunita and Aarisha, who once faced immense barriers to education, are now pursuing their dreams of becoming engineers, teachers, and community leaders.
The Impact of Your Gift:
- Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: By covering tuition, uniforms, and books, you ensure that education remains accessible to those who need it most.
- Empowering the Next Generation: Your support provides students with the confidence and tools to lead and uplift their own communities.
- Creating a Legacy of Hope: You are part of a global community that proves that with the right support, every child can reach their full potential.
The stories of resilience and achievement we see every day are a direct reflection of your kindness. While the journey for many of our students is still unfolding, your partnership ensures they never have to walk it alone.
Thank you for being the light and the hope for the children of Nepal.
We have appointed Ms. Preeti Tuladhar as “Education Coordinator” to help with this project and she will be following up and updating information about our students in Nepal. We would like to thank her for her time and commitment in helping us with this “Gift of Hope Project”.

We would also like to thank Angela and Angelina for raising more than $3000 as part of their leadership project to help with the Asha Project’s Gift of Hope Project.

With sincere appreciation,
Tulsi R. Maharjan, Ph.D. The Asha Project
